We had the pleasure of working with CReeves Makes on their new website for their Maker Shop. CReeves was looking for a full redesign of their website that would focus their content more on the items they wanted without a lot of extraneous sections that were going to get in the way. We also wanted to make the site more user friendly to people who struggled with contrast or smaller print. The ultimate goal was to make their site a single point of contact for others in the maker community and those who would be interested in their work.
With this build out we worked to bring in a feed from their YouTube Channel that would allow them to feature just the videos that they were looking to share, a photo gallery that would allow them to share the pictures they were proudest of, and a shop that would let them to sell their plans, and some day physical goods. Things like prominent social media links were important, as was having a consistent branding across all pages. We found ways to pull their logo color and styling into the design, so that when you view the pages its all complimentary. Finally for the front end of the site, we beefed up the text and worked to make all of the contrasts strong, so that there wouldn’t be any difficulty in reading the content, but it would still be pleasant to view.
Naturally we wanted to make the site easy to use from an administrative perspective too, so we cleaned up the admin panel so that it wouldn’t have a bunch of options that would just confuse the client in their regular updates.
We were really happy with the final design and even more happy that our client was happy with it as well. Watching their face light up when they saw how easy it would be to manage their content really made our day.
Thank you CReeves Makes, for putting your project in our hands and for working with us closely to ensure your final product would be exactly what you needed.
